Twelve PMI employees once again trekked down the street to take to the Real Salt Lake soccer field. A large crowd had gathered to watch the match and a cameraman darted in and out of the players, capturing extreme footage. It was the kind of gameday that most athletes only dream about.
PMI asserted control early with pinpoint passing and aggressive ball movement. It also didn’t hurt that PMI had Casey, a former NFL tight end, in the goalie box. He charged XanGo’s strikers fearlessly and kept their considerable offense in check. The fact that he was wearing football receiver’s gloves gave away his true identity and provided a unique synthesis of the two sports.
After biding their time like a sleeping cobra, XanGo struck three times just before halftime. Trailing 0-3 going into the second half, PMI knew they’d have to dig deep if they wanted to regain authority. Action in the final half was fast and furious. Both teams scored multiple goals and ratcheted up the intensity. When the final whistle blew at the end of the 90-minute match, XanGo had once again taken the crown. Both teams mingled on the field afterward and talked about the exciting game. And as the XanGo players got into their cars and drove home, they were undoubtedly haunted by the thought that their fortunes will change drastically in Game 4.
